DuPage County (IL) Genealogical Society Surname Project

The DuPage County Genealogical Society (DCGS) Surname Project is similar to other surname projects often undertaken by genealogical societies. The DCGS project is comprised of the following:

Members is a list of DCGS members who have submitted surnames in which they are interested in sharing data. All DCGS members who would like to correspond with other researchers are encouraged to join the project. If a surname or locality is found in one of the following files, the code of the submitter should be noted and then consulted in the Members file to obtain the mailing address of the submitter. Telephone numbers and E-mail addresses may also be available.
Surnames is a list of the family names in which DCGS members are interested and about which they wish to communicate. The file is indexed by the surname of interest, the country, broad jurisdiction, and a local jurisdiction. Also included in the file are two dates which define a time frame in which the DCGS member is concerned with that surname and a code with which to identify the DCGS submitter in "Members".
Locales is a reformatting of Surname. Locales is indexed by country, broad jurisdiction within that country, local jurisdiction, and the surname. It also includes time frames and the code with which to identify the DGCS member in Members.

All listings contain a country code. It should be noted, that when a broad or local jurisdiction was not provided by the submitter, those surnames will occur at the beginning of that jurisdictional sort.
